Let Your Love Flow
This ever loving song is on my "Yoga Love Mix". Music is an important part of my yoga classes. It cultivates a vibe, and gives us a pulse, a heartbeat to move and flow with. Love it.
Here's to the Bellamy Brosthers, circa 1975.
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show and you'll know what I mean
It's the season
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean
That's the reason

Your Illusory Mind

Incredibly, the blue and the green spirals are the same color. From the article:
The orange stripes go through the "green" spiral but not the "blue" one. So without us even knowing it, our brains compare that spiral to the orange stripes, forcing it to think the spiral is green. The magenta stripes make the other part of the spiral look blue, even though they are exactly the same color.

RIP
We all sort of expected that Amy or Britney would take it over the edge. But they are still here. Michael Jackson was a tortured soul who wore his pain on the outside where we could all see it. I hope that he is free and happy now.

The Purpose of Life

A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.

Only the Dead Have Seen the End of War

"Today, the Cold War has disappeared but thousands of those weapons have not. In a strange turn of history, the threat of global nuclear war has gone down, but the risk of a nuclear attack has gone up. More nations have acquired these weapons. Testing has continued. Black market trade in nuclear secrets and nuclear materials abound. The technology to build a bomb has spread. Terrorists are determined to buy, build or steal one….
Some argue that the spread of these weapons cannot be stopped, cannot be checked — that we are destined to live in a world where more nations and more people possess the ultimate tools of destruction. Such fatalism is a deadly adversary, for if we believe that the spread of nuclear weapons is inevitable, then in some way we are admitting to ourselves that the use of nuclear weapons is inevitable….
So today, I state clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons. I'm not naive. This goal will not be reached quickly — perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence. But now we, too, must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change."

Andrew Harvey: Sacred Activism
Andres is a beautiful man & accomplished author. I adore him and was able to spend a week with him 9 years ago at Esalen for a seminar. He is very wise, and spiritual. The first link cuts out abruptly at the end, but please have a listen to both.

Brown Fat: Another Reason to Love Canada

Nearly every adult has little blobs of brown fat that can burn huge numbers of calories when activated by the cold, as when sitting in a chilly room that is between 61 and 66 degrees.
Thinner people appeared to have more brown fat than heavier people; younger people more than older people; people with lower glucose levels, presumably reflecting higher metabolic rates, had more than those whose metabolisms were more sluggish; and women had more than men.
“The thing about brown fat is that it takes a very small amount to burn a lot of energy,” said Dr. C. Ronald Kahn, head of the section on obesity and hormone action at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.

An Organizational Shift

I love my blogs -- but this one defies categorization. In an effort to reorganize, I am shifting the yoga posts over to my other blog, Now, This Is Yoga which is all about yoga, and keeping this one for everything else.
